ONTARIO PCs "CARBON COPIES" OF LIBERALS

New video shows parties same on theme, climate "fighting" and taxes

June 7, 2016, London, Ontario – Freedom Party of Ontario today released a compelling video showing the startling degree to which Ontario's Progressive Conservatives are "Carbon Copies" of Ontario's Liberals, especially with respect to their theme ("choose change"), their commitment to "fighting" climate change, and their support for carbon taxes and cap-and-trade schemes.

"The earth's climate constantly changes", says Freedom Party leader, Paul McKeever, "and it did so before humans walked the Earth.

"Our current group of politicians have tried to control the climate by redistributing wealth and outlawing profitable industrial production.  However, taking money from those who earn it and giving it to those who don't appears to have no more effect on climate than sticking-up a Seven Eleven.  Mother Nature doesn't seem to care how much money is in your bank account, or how it got there.

"And outlawing industrial production in Ontario appears to be having no more effect on climate than did the low-carb Atkins diet craze.  Mother Nature doesn't care that widget production and customer service are being moved out of Ontario, and into China and India.

"Yet Ontario's PCs under Patrick Brown - like the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals - are doubling down on attempts to tax their way into history's first unchanging climate.  Their working theory appears to be that we can prevent the climate from changing if we just send Ontario's jobs to China and India.

"Ontario must shift its approach from the enormously expensive and economically destructive fantasy of climate-fighting to the tried and true historical reality of adapting to climate changes if and when needed.  At risk of giving Ms Wynne and Mr. Brown a couple more zany ideas, I offer this: You don't prevent skin cancer by taxing people according to the amount of melanin in their skin, or by fighting solar activity. You get into shade, or wear sunblock.  Likewise, if changing climate eventually causes water levels rise, you either move to higher ground or - as we have in Toronto for over a century - you use existing technology to change the shoreline and move land to where the lake used to be.

"As Bacon said: Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed.  We lack the technology to control an ever-changing climate.  Indeed, I've asked Premier Wynne, several times, to show me her climate-control machine but all such requests have gone unanswered to date.  Perhaps her trips to China and India have delayed her response.  However, it is clear that reason and productivity have proven themselves to be powerful tools in adapting to Mother Nature's changing moods.

"For Ontario voters who are looking for an alternative to the current anti-industrial, anti-prosperity, anti-Ontario green crusade, there is only one choice: Freedom Party of Ontario."
